Mos Def is one of a handful of artists who have breached the gap between underground and mainstream, music and film, small venues and main stage festival performances, and has done so with incredible success. Beginning with music in the mid 90's, Mos Def found himself to be one of the primary hip-hop artists leading a charge from back alley rhymes to featured spots on radio and MTV. Within a short time frame he had already begun to work with such artists as De La Soul and Talib Kweli and became a mainstream sensation almost overnight.
