TheatreVCU presents “A Raisin in the Sun,” Lorraine Hansberry’s enduring play about one family’s moment of crisis, starting on Sept. 25.
“A Raisin in the Sun” will be performed in the Raymond Hodges Theatre in the Singleton Performing Arts Center, 922 Park Ave. Performances will be held on Sept. 25-27 and Oct. 2-4 at 7:30 p.m., and on Sept. 28 and Oct. 5 at 3 p.m.
“A Raisin in the Sun,” the first Broadway production written by an African-American woman, addresses the economic and racial barriers standing between poor, hard-working families and their dreams, while celebrating the human spirit. Still pertinent and powerful, this beautifully honest play is affectionately human, funny and touching. Jennifer Nelson directs the TheatreVCU production of the play.
